- What Your Customers See
This article follows a customer who pays with a Monetico method. The plugin also works with the block-based WooCommerce checkout.
At checkout
The customer sees the Titre of the method, its card icon unless you unticked it, and the Description when they select it. If an amount range excludes the order (see the article about the payment methods), the method is not offered.
External payment form
This is the default, Externe. After the customer places the order, the order is Pending payment and the customer lands on a page of your site that shows your Message de redirection and an animation. Their browser then sends them to the bank’s payment page, where they enter their card. If JavaScript is disabled, the page shows If you are not automatically redirected, click the button below. and a Process Payment button.
Integrated payment form
With Intégré, the customer lands on the payment page of the order in your site, and the bank’s card form is displayed there, inside a frame. It needs the iframe option on your contract. The changelog of version 1.2.2 notes that 3D Secure can still take the customer out of your site in this mode, so the plugin also sends return addresses to the bank.
After the payment
- If the payment succeeds, the customer comes back to the order received page. Your order is marked as paid when the bank’s confirmation reaches your return URL.
- If it fails or is cancelled, the order becomes Failed. The customer comes back to the payment page of the order and can try again. The plugin also adds a note for the customer, Payment failed for this order. But you can Retry Payment, with a link.
- Your Instructions text appears on the thank you page and in the customer’s emails for orders paid with this method. It is not added to the emails sent to the shop admin.
Details you may want to know
- The payment page of the bank is shown in the customer’s language when the bank supports it: German, English, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, Portuguese or Swedish. Otherwise, the plugin uses the language of your site, and English if that is not supported either.
- The plugin sends the customer’s billing and shipping details to the bank. Monetico requires a billing address, a city, a postcode and a country. If one of them is empty, the plugin sends /unknown/ for the first three and FR for the country.
- Each time the customer places the order again, the plugin creates a new payment reference for it, made of the letter M, the order number on 8 digits, and a counter of hours. This avoids the Monetico error saying the order validity date is exceeded, when a customer comes back long after leaving the payment page. The reference is the transaction ID of the order.
- The card form on the bank side is styled on the Monetico service, not in the plugin.
