Knowledge Base

Welcome to the Registration Codes documentation. Registration Codes lets you create codes that new users enter when they register. Each code gives its user a role you choose. You can set how many times a code can be used and when it expires.

A code can be asked for in the WordPress registration form, in the WooCommerce registration form, at the WooCommerce checkout, or in a form of your own that you place with a shortcode.

Requirements

  • WordPress 5.2 or later
  • PHP 7.0 or later
  • WooCommerce is optional. Without it, the plugin works with the WordPress registration form and its own form. The WooCommerce options only appear when WooCommerce is active.

Download and install

After purchasing your license, you receive an email with a download link. You can also log into your account at https://plugins.longwatchstudio.com/my-account/ and go to the Downloads section to download the plugin’s zip file.

Then, in your website, go to

WordPress Admin
Plugins
Add New
Upload Plugin

Select the zip file you downloaded, install it and activate the plugin.

A license is required

Registration Codes has no free version. Until a license is active, the plugin only shows its summary page and its System page. The registration codes, the registration form and the settings pages are not available, and no code is asked for in any registration form.

Activate your license

You will find your license key inside the order confirmation email, or in your account at https://plugins.longwatchstudio.com/my-account/ inside Orders → License Manage.

On the first administration page you open after the activation, the plugin takes you once to its license page. If it does not, go to

WordPress Admin
Registration Codes
System
License Management

Paste your license key in the appropriate field and activate it. The plugin also adds a link to this page in the plugins list: it reads Add Licence Key until the license is active, then Licence. A Settings link next to it opens the plugin’s summary page.

Once the license is active, the Registration Codes menu shows four pages next to the summary page: Registration Codes, Registration Form, Settings and System.

What to do next

  1. Set the code rules and where the code field appears. See Code Settings and Code Field.
  2. Create your first code. See Create and Manage Registration Codes.

Uninstalling

Deleting the plugin removes its version and redirection options only. The registration codes stay in your database.
