A Free Product reward can offer several products. When a customer uses such a coupon, a popup lets the customer choose the product. This article explains how the popup works, and the settings that change its texts and its look. It needs WooRewards Pro.
How it works
- The customer applies the coupon on the cart. WooRewards adds the first product of the list that is in stock and can be bought, together with the coupon.
- If the list holds more than one product, a popup opens and shows the products with their picture and name.
- The customer selects a product and confirms. WooRewards replaces the product in the cart with the chosen one.
- If the customer closes the popup or cancels, WooRewards removes the coupon and the free product from the cart.
A product that is out of stock is shown with a label and cannot be selected. Once the customer has chosen, the popup does not open again by itself.
Classic pages and blocks
The popup exists for both layouts of WooCommerce.
- Classic cart and checkout: the popup is added to the page before the cart totals, and before the order total on the checkout.
- Cart and Checkout blocks: the popup comes from a block named Free Product selector, placed inside the Cart block (filled cart) or the Checkout block (checkout fields). The free product line also changes in the block: see Price Replacement below.
WooRewards loads the files of the classic popup only on pages that use the classic layout. For the other differences between the blocks and the classic pages, read Points on Cart in the Cart and Checkout Blocks.
Popup settings
Go to
The group is described as: Defines the popup options when a customer uses a free product coupon with multiple choices. It has these fields:
- Popup title: the title of the popup. The field shows Choose your free product as a hint. If you leave it empty, customers see Select your free product.
- Cancel button label (default Cancel) and Apply button label (default Add this product): the texts of the two buttons of the classic popup.
- Out of stock (default Out of stock): the label shown on a product that cannot be chosen.
- Price Replacement (default Free): in the blocks, the text shown instead of the price of the free product line. This field only appears when Free product pricing management is set to Force a zero price on the cart line. With the other mode, Apply a discount coupon, the price of the line is struck through instead.
- Popup layout: All with scrollbar, Grid, One by One or 3 by 3. The default is All with scrollbar.

If your site is older than version 4.9.0
When WooRewards was first installed on your site before version 4.9.0, the group opens with a Used Popup switch: New Popup or Legacy Popup. Sites updated from an older version keep the legacy popup at first. In legacy mode, the group only shows a styling tool for the popup, and the fields above appear when you switch to New Popup.
