Sponsorship

Sponsorship is an important feature in WooRewards. Customers can sponsor new users using various methods. They can also win points every time their sponsored place orders. Let’s see the sponsorship in details.

Sponsorship Settings

First, go to WooRewards → Settings → Sponsorship. There, you will find the following settings :

By Default, only the sponsorship widget will establish a permanent link between the sponsor and his sponsored. This link will also ensure that sponsored receive their rewards when they register or pass an order.

Let’s see all the settings in details :

  • Enable Sponsorship : If turned off, sponsorship won’t work on the entire website, even if you put sponsorship widgets on your website. Make sure this setting is checked if you want to use sponsorship.
  • Enable sponsorship through links : If enabled, any visitor registering after using the link will associate himself with the sponsor. If disabled, visitor coming from a sponsorship link will only give points one time to the sponsor.
  • Enable sponsorship via social share : If enabled, any visitor registering after using the social share will associate himself with the sponsor. If disabled, visitor coming from a sponsorship link will only give points one time to the sponsor.
  • Allow unlogged users to sponsor : If you check that box, unlogged users will still have the possibility to sponsor their friends. An extra input will ask them to enter their addresse email in addition to the ones of their customers.
  • Redirection if user not found : If an unlogged user tries to sponsor his friends, WooRewards will try to look for a user with the same email address. If WooRewards fails to find the user, the redirection will apply. You should redirect them to a page where they can log in or register.
  • Max sponsorships per customer : Maximum allowed sponsorships for customers. If you don’t set a value, customers can sponsor as many friends as they want.

Sponsored Reward (Email Sponsorship Only)

A new customer will only receive this reward if he receives a sponsorship email. The reward is created right away when the sponsor sends the email and can be used by the sponsored even if he doesn’t register.

This sponsored reward is unique. Therefore, you won’t be able to set more than one reward.

Reward the Sponsored

If you want to reward the sponsored that come from different sponsorship origins, you need to create a dedicated loyalty system.

When visitors come from a sponsorship link or a social share, the system can’t generate a reward for them. It means that they need to register to get a reward.

Create a new standard loyalty system named “Sponsored Reward”. In the methods to earn points, choose “User register” and be sure to enable the:

In this method, you can select a Sponsorship origin :

  • None : If you select this option, only people that don’t have a sponsor can earn points. This option is useful if you already give a reward to people sponsored by email and don’t want to give them 2 rewards when they register.
  • Sponsorship link : Select this option if you want to give points to customers who register via a sponsorship link.
  • Any social network : Select this option if you want to give points to customers who register via a social shared link.
  • Specific social network : You can also select which origin social network will give points to the new customer.

If you don’t select a sponsorship origin, all visitors who register will earn points

Don’t confuse the User register earning method with the Sponsored Registers method. The Sponsored Registers gives points to the Sponsor and not the Sponsored.

For the reward, you can set any reward you want like for a regular loyalty system.
